First, please note that this is no bug or request but a support question. For
those we have different channels (see
"http://support.openoffice.org/index.html"), but not this issue tracker.
When opening the attached doc in a plain simple text editor, there is no
content. So, when you have no working backup copy, then, I'm sorry, nobody can
help you to get back the data.
