I want to help

Hi,
My name is Flavio Moreira. I am a software developer, and I would like to
contribute to the Apache OpenOffice Suite. I have been using the software
for my schoolwork and I feel that it is the perfect project to work on as
it will improve my development skills and also help the project grow and
reach more people. I have development experience in C++ and JavaScript and
would like to put my skills to good use.

Hello Hao,

I think best is to start a discussion on this on Dev mailing list.  
Andrea did a Data mining Demo a while back on Fosdem, the Recording is 
available Online.

 From my part I would first check how to use Python in AOO. Currently we 
ship a build in Python 2.7.x, you can point AOO to an external Pythonm 3 
instance.

That would be my starting point.

Welcome Flavio.

We appreciate the interest that you have.

Apache OpenOffice is a complex and aged codebase. It takes time to learn 
your ways.

If you are willed to invest the time and accept that development 
progress is slow, this is a good experience for learning to work on 
mature projects.

It is essential that you ask all the questions you have and stay on the 
initative side in order to make your way into AOO.


I recommend to start with building AOO. [1]
At [2] you find our priority tickets. Of course you can work on other 
topics or make your own experience.
Architecture you can read a Bit on the wiki [3]
