[D] Iceberg history log management [polaris]
GitHub user jonsnowseven created a discussion: Iceberg history log management
Hello all.
I have a question regarding how Polaris handles Iceberg history.
When a commit is added to the history, does Polaris do anything behind the scenes regarding Iceberg history management or simply respects the Iceberg properties (e.g., `write.metadata.delete-after-commit.enabled=false`)?
Thank you in advance.

Hi
Afaik, Polaris doesn't do anything about Iceberg "history". The snapshots are basically part of the table `metadata.json`: Polaris exposes it (and can optionally filter some snapshots).
