I could go either way WRT to it being a feature or bug. I suppose if you have a production cluster and nodes are OOMing it's a bug and if you don't it's a feature. If no one is beating down the door complaining then it's a feature.
I rebased the branches and added a 3.3 commit and started the tests in addition to the changes you mentioned.
