[jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-1482) Put provided tables in their own (system) namespace

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-1482?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13671945#comment-13671945 ]

Josh Elser commented on ACCUMULO-1482:
--------------------------------------

I like the idea of making a system namespace and putting !METADATA and !!ROOT (assuming that also comes to fruition) into it.

Assuming we do so, is there any more reason to put one to many !'s in front of METADATA (and ROOT)? I know [~mdrob] had some frustrations with jline2, history and ! being interpreted as a meta-character.

>From my understanding, the !'s were only to make them sort to the top of the monitor page for most people and be something unlikely for a user to want to use. Locking them into a system namespace seems to serve the same purpose then. Am I missing something else?

> The !METADATA table and possibly a separate !!ROOT (ACCUMULO-1481) table should be placed in their own namespace.
> Trace might need to go in its own namespace (metrics.trace?)
