> It is common for SSL keys/certificates to be held as PEM or DER files rather than as JKS files.  Converting these into JKS format can be fiddly and can lead to misconfiguration.  We should provide mechanisms to allow the client to be configured to pick up key/certificate material from such files as an alternative to using Java Key Stores
