[jira] [Commented] (GORA-216) Verify storage and retrieval of Avro null-single- type Union data within Gora-Accumulo

Alfonso Nishikawa commented on GORA-216:
----------------------------------------

Hi, Keith.
I am returning hbase-store back to returning a null in the test case of when the column does not exist.
I find this -without further analysis- wrong because we are assuming that every backend is a K-V, when nothing forces other types of backends that could return a value when the corresponding value was not written, and this is a big issue because the behavior will depend on the backend :\

About default values I will write some analysis about :) What you tell about writing all values is very appreciated and seems right. I feel quite sad for losing the "sparse" feature in HBase if we write all, but maybe that will be the only solution, or not? I will inform when I write that article.
Thanks a lot.
