RE: 2.2 and 2.2.1
I am not sure what you mean by 2.2 and 2.2.1. I believe 2.2 is the current
production version, and the next version will be 2.3.

What is the difference between 2.2 and 2.2.1? I tried searching but couldn't

You should be using the released version, which is 2.2.0 (AKA 2.2)
- 2.2.1 has not been released but will be bugfixxes only
- 2.3 is the current development version of the turbine-2 codebase
- 3.0 is a dead project
