Configuration of Tomcat with Apache

Hi I downloaded Tomcat 3.1 and I have Apache 1.3.x.

To configure Tomcat with Apache, do I need
mod_jk?(Adapter).
If you know  where can I download it from.
Or do you know How to compile it or what application
can compile mod_jk. Where can I get this copiler to
run on UNIX.
