1.6.4?

Hi all,

seems as if it was inevitable to release yet another 1.6.x version, if
only to make javah work again. The question is "when?", not "if"
IMHO.

How much do we need to rush a new release if we wanted it to go with
the next Netbeans and Eclipse final releases?

How long do we want to wait for more bug reports to come in?

Stefan

No need to rush (or dawdle) for NB's sake; NB 4.1 is soon to be released
w/ 1.6.2 and 1.6.3 will be made available as an update reasonably soon,
when adequately tested. Same for any other Ant release.

I think that's the more interesting question...

What showstoppers have been found in 1.6.3?

yes. ideally things that are already working in CVS_HEAD but didnt get
copied over.

oh, and dont broadly announce that a 1.6.4 is planned as it encourages
more people to d/l 1.3 and find/report bugs.

I thought NetBeans 4.1's release date was May 15th.

This may have changed but if not the boat will have sailed...

Of course I want javah to work but :
        http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=34680
is very important to the Eclipse Ant integration.

If the Ant release can be pushed up at all...Thursday May 19th?
We are into our release candidates and the sooner we have a new Ant
release the higher the chances I can argue to include it in the Eclipse
release.

Eclipse's full plan is here:
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/%7Echeckout%7E/eclipse-project-home/plans/3_1/freeze_plan.html

Thank you for your consideration

Hello,

I think like you (we also had a javah problem which was one of the reasons
for releasing ant 1.5.4).

I would suggest releasing ant 1.6.4 on Thursday, May 26th.

There would not be a beta for 1.6.4 and only show stopper bugs should be
in
the changes between 1.6.3 and 1.6.4.

Would this be OK for Eclipse/NetBeans ...

Cheers,

Antoine
