Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: XERCERJ-244
Summary: DOm reports comments in external DTD subset as children of the document node
       Type: Bug

     Status: Resolved
 Resolution: FIXED

    Project: Xerces2-J

   Assignee: Xerces-J Developers Mailing List
   Reporter: elharo

    Created: Wed, 20 Mar 2002 7:17 PM
    Updated: Mon, 12 Apr 2004 2:19 PM
Environment: Operating System: All
Platform: Other

Description:
I've noticed that when I parse an XML document through JAXP with Xerces into a
DOM document object, the resulting Document object includes all comments that
occur in the external DTD subset as children of the document node. As near as I
can tell, this is not correct. Crimson does not exhibit this problem.
