JRun works?

Hey,

I'm trying to get Struts to work with JRun 3.1 and Apache 1.3.6

The problem I'm running into is the ApplicationResources is not found,
I'm testing on the empty war deployable packaged with the struts
distribution. The information in the struts installation instructions
for struts seems a bit dated.

Just for completenes, this is only true for Struts 1.0 -- in 1.1, the
restriction is being lifted, and you will be able to put struts.jar in a
shared repository as long as your servlet container sets the thread
context class loader for each webapp correctly (required for servlet 2.3,
but commonly implemented in other containers as well).

That's the standard behavior of Java class loaders. In 1.1, we had to add
special logic to check the webapp repository first, no matter where
struts.jar was loaded from.

Okay, ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE:

*ONLY* put the struts jar in the struts-example/WEB-INF/lib/struts.jar

If you put it at the server level or any other location for that matter,
the ActionServlet will not find your ApplicationResources.properties
file.

JRun seems to search for the properties file wherever it first finds
that jar. So, again, only within the struts-example/WEB-INF/lib/
directory.

Cheers,

I've deployed it in its raw format, the JRun logs look okay and I've
done tons with struts and Tomcat, just that ActionServlet is not loading
the desired Application properties successfully, I'm reading the old
mailing list forums to find a resolution, so far, it seems quite common.

Thanks!

Just a maybe, but I think you will get this error if your
web.xml/struts-config.xml is not well formed.

I think the first error on the page is the MessageTag.doStartTag
possibly in
your title
<title><bean:message key="blah.blah" /></title>

just a guess.
