Re[2]: Win200 crashing with Tomcat 4

You may want to check the event viewer. Perhaps you have a hardware issue (i.e.
Bad Memory Chip, Failing Disk)

You also may want to check your file system with scandisk. Win2000 should not
crash even if one application crashes. I'm using Tomcat4 on several Win2K
servers in production that never crash.

Have you looked in the log tables for application and
system events?

The quickest way to identify whether it's really a hardware problem would
be to borrow time on a different Win2K system and try it there -- if it
doesn't crash there, then you've definitely got hardware or OS problems on
your system.

Well I've checked my disk twice (with a utility and with system's
CHKDSK and no problems where found). As for other hardware problems I
don't think they exist because I 've been using heavier appz than
Tomcat, I've been watching movies on my DVD without any problems and
generally for the past year my system crashed only twice or three times
(for the last month that I've been using Tomcat, my system
crashes-reboots at least three times a day...).

I am using Tomcat in stand-alone mode.
What do you mean by "performance issues?

Re: Win200 crashing with Tomcat 4

I've noticed that several people are successfully using Tomcat with W2k
and NT.

We are slowly moving Tomcat 4 into our production environment.
Currently, I am testing Tomcat in stand-alone mode.
1. Are you using Tomcat in stand-alone mode? If so, are you having any
performance issues?
2. If you are fronting Tomcat with a webserver, which one are you using?
While current versions of Apache have been ported to windows, i've heard
it's not as robust on Win32 as it is on other platforms. We are
currently using Netscape Enterprise Server 4.1 for servlets and JSPs.

My initial tests with Tomcat started on Windows 2000, then on our
primary webserver, which is running WinNT4.0sp6. Eventually, when Apache
2.0 is released, I would like to use it as our primary webserver under
Win2k and/or NT.

Thanks,

~Scott
