how to get spam reporting working

I have what appears to be a fully functional spamassassin 3.0.3 set up
with all network tests working. However,

spamassassin -r samplespam.txt

gives me

razor2 report failed: No such file or directory Razor2 report requires
authentication at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/Mail/SpamAssassin/Reporter.pm line 148.
1 message(s) examined.
Insecure dependency in connect while running with -T switch at
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.0/i386-linux-thread-multi/IO/Socket.pm line 114.

What can I do to fix it?

Raphael

P.S. System is redhat 9 with lots of updates. Command run as a normal user.

What version of razor do you have? If it's older than 2.40, upgrade. (While
you're at it, go to 2.67, the e8 signature algorithm increases razor's hit
rate greatly)

Try "spamassassin -r < samplespam.txt"

You have to direct the input with a "<"

HTH.

Thanks very much. The reason that I asked is that there is no executable
called razor-admin on my system. In fact there are no executables called
  razor*.

Razor2 seems to be a series of perl modules sitting in subdirectories of

/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.0/Razor2/ (and similar)

The rpm is called perl-Razor-Agent-2.40

So it seems that to follow the razor instructions, I need to make a
fresh install of razor even though my current Razor2 setup works just
fine for spam detection.

SpamAssassin uses the installation of Razor that you already have on your
machine. In your case, the document you pointed to is a good instruction in
installing Razor in the first place. You now need to follow the instructions
from step 5 and 6 to get authentication working so you can report.

Does this mean that I need to make a separate installation of razor
using the instructions at
http://razor.sourceforge.net/docs/doc.php?type=text&name=INSTALL ? The
spamassassin spam reporting docs are not clear on this at all.

Read the Razor docs. In this case, SA is telling you that Razor requires you
to have authentication information to be able to report. The Razor can tell
you how to setup the account, etc.
