JNDI Lookup in Windows
Hi this lookup works in linux environment:
ctx.lookup("java:module/UsersFacade!com.mypackage.ejbs.UsersFacadeLocal");
But in Windows it doesnt work.
My interface an ejb are declared like this
@Local
interface UsersFacadeLocal...
@Stateless
UsersFacade implements UsersFacadeLocal....
Is there any solution that works in Windows??

+1 glad you are slowly-but-surely getting your app to work with Windows!

The resolution follows some rules if something is somewhere ambiguous it
can fail (multiple app/module with same name etc...)

Re: JNDI Lookup in Windows

I override the applicationName for the ear (application.xml) and the module
name for the ejb module (in ejb-jar.xml), and now with my own values (not
default) the ejb can be found!! :)
Then i use the java:global[/*application name*]/*module name*/*enterprise
bean name*[/*interface name*]
Then:
ctx.lookup("java:global/MyApplicationName/MyModuleName/
UsersFacade!com.mypackage.ejbs.UsersFacadeLocal");
Done.
I dont know why with didnt work with the default values.
Thanks.

also, OmniFaces has the following, which you may want to try:
http://showcase.omnifaces.org/converters/SelectItemsConverter
i've seen many PrimeFaces users refer to this and recommend this. this may
be able to meet your @FacesConverter need unless you really need to
reference @EJB in @FacesConverter.
If BalusC added this to OmniFaces, then it is definitely good to try/use.

I use an ear.
Taken from omnifaces page:
"CDI issues in EAR
Note that CDI has known issues when OmniFaces is bundled in multiple WARs
in a single EAR. It's important to understand that those issues are not
related to OmniFaces, but to the broken CDI spec. For an overview of those
issues, please refer Known issues of OmniFaces CDI features in combination
with specific application servers."

the following are in my tomee log @ startup for my UsersFacade. evidently,
tomee creates UsersFacadeLocalBean for my app (see 1st line below). some
time ago, when i tested referencing @EJB in @FacesConverter, I think it
worked when i used jndi (global) name as specified in tomee log @ startup
(see below).

I use the java:global/.... path that is logged in the startup, and i get
the same problem, the lookup could not find my ejb in that path.
And yes i use an ear, i used CODI before, tomee maven plugin and everything
worked on Linux Environment but CODI and JNDI doesnt work in Win.

well, I have been using TomEE with Windows 2003 server and then Windows
2008 server (in production), and Windows 2008 server (as development
PC/server, ever since beginning of tomee life), but I'm not using EAR, and
I don't specify @Local or @Remote.
i do remember a conversation... Romain recommending to use jdni global name
specified in tomee log @ startup. i don't know if it is will work inside
@FacesConverter.
you may want to try MyFaces 2.2. just as you are contributing to TomEE by
using it and reporting issues, i'm sure MyFAces committers will appreciate
you using it and reporting issues. just a recommendation. i'm not using it
yet, but I prefer to wait to use MyFaces 2.2 until it is bundled with
tomee+ ZIP file. :)
