When installed on Windows Server 2003, the "service" version of Tomcat (5.5.16
Tomcat5w.exe) will not serve html or jsp pages, reporting http 404 errors.  When
started as an application (tomcat5.exe) everything works fine.

It was first installed with the Windows installer version. I have updated the
class files from the .zip version as recommended by other error reports.  The
previous verion (5.5.12) worked ok.

P.S. Not sure its relavant, but the host computer has multiple NIC's, cable and
fibre, with the cable NIC disabled and the fibre NIC enabled.

There were some problems with parts of the 5.5.16 exe download. I have just
tested 5.5.17 running as a service and it returns 404s when expected.

I suggest you upgrade to 5.5.17

If you still experience problems, it may be related to your NIC configuration.
Questions about this should be directed to the users mailing list in the first
instance.
