The issue where Mesos was ignoring the --ip option was fixed in MESOS-165. This fix should also be applied to the deploy configuration files (masters/slaves). When an IP address is specified instead of a hostname in one of these files, Mesos ignores it and thus may bind to the wrong IP address. Fixing this issue will simplify deployment in environments where the configuration files are shared among nodes.
