External storage for Test VMs?
Someone said that they'd got some external HDD for test VMs -I can see I'm
going to need this once I create a large dev/release VM as well as some
more test nodes.
Whoever did this: what disk did you go with —and how well is it working.?

I have an external HD. The only thing you care about is ejecting the HDD
properly. Once I had to reset the VM to the last snapshot as VBox refused
to recognize even after I connected. I have not repro'ed it yet.
