Retire JDO Expert Group mail list

Hi,

The JDO expert group mail list is being retired due to the transfer of
assets from Sun to Oracle.

Does anyone see a need to maintain a separate JDO expert group list?
I'd prefer to have subscribers to jdo-experts-ext to simply subscribe
to jdo-dev instead.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Craig

Experience of the last few years is that people who were on the JDO EG list
and aren't on the jdo-dev list no longer contribute anything to the
development of the JDO standard (and no longer post to it).

IMHO a standard should be developed in the open, not on some *private* mailing
list.

Craig,

If you think there is a lot of maintenance cost, you can merge it.

Keeping the expert group email list in my opinion would keep
the communication channel between the JDO experts and the outside world. As
well as any communication ever required within the EG members, and to
notify non-active EG members for any Expert group activity.

Can you please explain why the separate group adds value? From my
perspective, everyone who is active on the expert group is already
subscribed to jdo-dev. Maintaining two lists seems like a waste of
energy (I'd personally have to mange the subscriptions to both lists).

Hi Craig,

I think JDO expert group members should definitly keep a seperate email
group as well as subscribing to jdo-dev.
