I try with this regexp :
(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})(.{0,250})

I am unable to reproduce your problem with the latest Regexp release, 1.5. I
tried your regexp expression - (.{0,250}){11} - with some text, and it was
working just fine. You can try latest release here:
http://jakarta.apache.org/regexp/applet.html

PS: AIOOBE could have been caused by bug 38331, fixed in regexp 1.5
