Here's a quick status update. I started branch c-bindings-wip2 based on my previous work on the build system and test infrastructure which has already been committed to master. Some things I'll work on next are:

* Compiler flags for shared libraries (-fPIC)
* Linker flags to link against libraries
* Library versioning
