[Issue 127402] New: Annoying i.e. bug

https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=127402

          Issue ID: 127402
        Issue Type: DEFECT
           Summary: Annoying i.e. bug
           Product: Writer
           Version: 4.1.0
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 10
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: Minor
          Priority: P5 (lowest)
         Component: editing
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: paul1@paul-robinson.us
  Target Milestone: ---

I was trying to use the Latin expression for "that is" which is i.e. So, at one
point in my book, I'm writing something like

You'll have to give him a "campaign contribution", i.e. a bribe.

or

You'll have to give him a "campaign contribution," i.e. a bribe.

As soon as the i.e is typed, the I is altered to upper case, even though it's
following a comma, (or quoted comma) not a period, and I could not get the
behavior to stop. Then I discovered if I continued typing, the i is returned to
lower case, but then the term i.e. is redlined as a misspelled word!

The autochange is annoying, but i.e. should be in the program's dictionary.

This represents my first "i.e." problem on a computer in ten years that wasn't
about Internet Explorer!

----
And remember, commas save lives. Compare the following sentences:

Lets eat grandma!
Lets eat, grandma!

It looks like an automatic option is doing this conversion. Please have a look
for them in the AutoCorrect dialog (see menu "Tools - AutoCorrect Options").
Make sure the language is correct set and fit to the language in the document.
Then check the items on the "Replace" and "Options" tabs. I hope this helps.
