[VOTE] Releasing MINA 1.0 (finally!)

Hello comrades,

The Apache Directory project team has decided that the design of MINA API
and its implementation are stablized enough to call it the next stable
release, 1.0. Here's the list of the changes since the last unstable
release, 0.9.5:

http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&pid=10670&fixfor=11070

Notable changes:

* Basic JMX integration - We will keep improving the JMX integration in the
next unstable branch, 1.1.
* More examples
* Leader-followers thread pool has been replaced with
backport-util-concurrent Executors.
* IoServiceListener interface

Please note that we are not going to announce the release of 1.0 until our
web site is moved to CWiki (confluence). We are just going to release the
artifact only for now, because ApacheDS 1.0 wants the first stable release
of MINA.

[ ]: +1 Release
[ ]: 0 Abstain
[ ]: -1 Don't release

Cheers,
Trustin

+1, but would like DIRMINA-249 to go along with 1.0, since it's an API change.

+1 too, and like Julien, I think some doc should be completed, at least for
some points like how to managed ThreadPool in MINA since it is a
frequent question (when performance could be a question).
(frequent question at least for me, I agree ;-))

+1, I think we need to focus on website and doc for now and make the
announcement when we are ready.

Correct.

The java5 bits allow you to use the Executor that ships with java5 vs
the backported one. In actuality, we could detect the presence of
java5 via reflection and then instantiate its executor
transparently.. Would be a good enhancement for 1.0.1 :)

Patches are welcome! Especially on documentation! There is quite a
bit of knowledge in the mailing list as well, if you dig back through
the archives.

I'll vote for the release of MINA 1.0, as I have been trying it and
everything looks good to me. Just one question, as the PoolThreadedModel is
replaced by the ExecutorThreadModel, does this means that I do not have to
do anything to take advantage of the ExecutorThreadModel, and it is created
by default for me? And is this similar or different with the
java5-concurrency thing?

To be honest MINA is pretty good, but the lack of complete documentation
means performance tuning stuff like this are quite difficult to be used and
understood.

However, great work guys!! MINA is the best.

    Kok Hoor
