Warning: possible need for restore before dump on functioning repo

Hi,

Sander Striker has been warning for the fs-schema change to come and the fact that those running off of HEAD cannot svn up and make install before svnadmin dumping their repositories.

Since I am part of the audiency he has been addressing, I figured that I would start learning to use dump / load before the real change happened. My repository seemed alright, since committing and checking out seemed to work alright - although I am a one-man system, so I only use HEAD.

When running svnadmin dump the dump process got stuck at revision 2 time after time. strace showed it was waiting for a select statement which timed out again and again. Unfortunately I don't have the strace output anymore. Running svnadmin recover fixed it, but it looked like the process got stuck in an infinite loop. I don't have the repository anymore, because I forgot to copy it away before running the recover.

I stopped using the repository since there might be files in there to help reconstruct the problem.

I know there is a problem in the issue tracker about being able to verify the correctness of the repository database, but I was unable to find a defect which describes the infinite loop.

bye,

Erik.
