FreeBSD & log4CXX no joy

Hey all I once more put forth a request for some guidance on getting log4cxx
compiling on FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE.
 
Since log4cxx-0.9.7.tar.gz does not come with a ./configure all ready to go
I went ahead and was able to get the ./autogen.sh working by making the
following soft links:
 
aclocal -> /usr/local/bin/aclocal15
autoconf -> /usr/local/bin/autoconf259
autoheader-> /usr/local/bin/autoheader259
automake -> /usr/local/bin/automake15
libtool -> /usr/local/bin/libtool15
libtoolize -> /usr/local/bin/libtoolize15
ltconfig -> /usr/share/libtool13/ltconfig13
 
This actually allows the ./autogen.sh script the ability to create the
./configure file. When I then execute the ./configure I get the following
output:

./configure: line 3292: --cache-file=/dev/null: No such file or directory
configure: error: libtool configure failed

Any BSD people out there have any suggestions on how to get around this? I
of course would have loved to install a port but only log4c is available and
I am not even sure which version.
