Are SYNONYMS exposed through DatabaseMetaData.getTables() api?

Hi Satheesh,
 I was wondering if a JDBC program can use DatabaseMetaData.getTables() to 
get the synonyms by using "SYNONYM" as table type?

 Just wondered if you got a chance to look at following. Also, if this is 
supported then is there a test for it?
