I just tried this from trunk, created a new 'forrest seed' and then 'forrest run' -- works fine for me. Also did a 'forrest seed-sample' and works fine too.
I was going to attach an image but then remembered that our zone builds a 'forrest seed' from fresh-site every hour and so would display your error if anything was wrong.

Have you altered anything locally , /main/fresh-site/ perhaps ??

I agree that is what the screenshot shows, my investigations of doing my
own forrest seed , forrest seed-sample showed otherwise and the seed that
runs on our forrest zone every hour shows the same as what I get.

Check out the screenshot: When a site works ok. the current tab is shown in blue and the current menu item is open, visible and emphasized. When you look at the screenshot the Home tab is blue (wrong), both subtabs are blue (wrong and impossible) and the menu shows the typical signs of a broken system (all menus visible, none open). Mind you none of this will make Forrest site or run fail. The system simply doesn't work the way it is supposed to work. Look for my previous postings on site.xml and tab.xml if you want more of an explanation.

Thanks for your help. I did a complete fresh check-out of head and I'm now getting the same result as Forrest zones (See Screenshot error2.png) So main tab and menu highlights work o.k., sub tab highlight still doesn't work properly.

Where does this need changing ?
Then I suggest maybe changing some default colors.
