This appears to be resolved on master. The new LSM-tree archived timeline (HUDI-6539, commit d924f181633a / PR #9209) added cleaning of archived files. `LSMTimelineWriter.compactAndClean()` performs compaction across LSM layers and then invokes `clean()`, which deletes obsolete manifest and data archive files beyond `hoodie.archive.timeline.manifest.retained.versions`. This is wired into the archival flow in `TimelineArchiverV2.archiveIfRequired()` (see `TimelineArchiverV2.java:125`). If the original concern is no longer reproducible, this issue can likely be closed; otherwise please reopen with a concrete repro on master.
