[POLL] Target Java 1.5 for James 3.0?

java 1.4 is now official EOL'd. the james 3.0 codebase currently
targets 1.4 but switching to 1.5 would make quite a lot of exciting
stuff (such as JPA data stores and annotated mailets) much easier. the
consensus amongst the developers is that the time is now right to
abandon Java 1.4 for 3.0 (with james 2.x continuing to support Java
1.4) but we'd like to give users a chance to give some feedback on
this.

so if anyone has an opinion, please dive in

Go forward. 1.6 has nice features the developers will enjoy. I can't
think of a good reason why anyone would still be using something as
old as 1.5 and, as a developer, I would never wish to go back to 1.4.
Staying there is a BIG disincentive for new developers to join the
ranks.

Just my $.02.

ATM no one asked for a java 2 1.4, as I hoped. So far so good!

I'll start a new poll to ask users if they want a third poll ;-)

I would also add my vote for +1 for abandoning 1.4 and go for 5.0 as
we are already there too.

+1 for abandoning 1.4 and go for 5.0

I work in a very conservative Fortune 500 company and even us have already
move to 5.0 ...

Actually, Java 6. Any reason for Java 5, as long as we're making the big
