Problems adding something to jakarta-commons-sandbox in CVS?

I'm trying to add something to jakarta-commons-sandbox (in the "lang"
module). Do I need special permission for that? I thought anyone could
add stuff to sandbox?

Thanks

Hen,

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm going to send a follow up email
with the "patch" (as tarball) including the two new files.

I am having trouble checking out the commons-lang code through anon cvs
(note: i can check out some modules such as digester.) I sent an email
to Stephen about this earlier when he asked for comment on BooleanUtils.
Please excuse my repeating myself if this has been answered b/c my mail
box became full and was not accepting new messages for a little while
(all fixed now!).

Regards

Either a patch, or a zip/tar.gz if it's new files [and you don't want to
push them through patch].

I'll email some thoughts on DateUtils in a sec.

Thanks. I did see some of the online info on this. I wanted to add
something to the sandbox (a class and test case) for a proposed new
class for the commons-lang. Do I just send a [patch] email for the new
files to this list?

If so, then I will send one later today. I will try my best to generate
the patch using the documentation on the jakarta site. Please bear with
me though as I am new to the team!

Thanks,

The Jakarta website has some information on it. In the Get Involved... How
to... section.

In simpler terms, you continue the way you're currently going. Submit
fixes and action items as patches, committers then commit your patches for
you. Once you've contributed for a bit [someone submitting patches is a
contributor] through discourse on the mail lists and code patching then
you get nominated for committership.

Later on when you've shown that you get the ASF way and are a part of the
main body of Apache coders, then you get nomination to Apache membership
and can speak as an ASF company member.

Two people you can count on to submit your patches to start with are
myself and Stephen Colebourne [at least for Lang patches]. Anyone on the
Lang STATUS.html file's list of committers should be able to do so though.

You need to be an Apache committer at least, and then have Commons karma
given, which as far as I know is open to any Apache committer, they just
have to request it.
