PDFBox and writing UTF8 characters

Hi,

it seems that one of the most pressing features is supporting UTF8 characters in writing PDFs - is someone already looking into that? Any idea about potential effort?

OK - btw Apache Fop has UTF8 support for PDF

Yes, I've a working prototype, but I'm not yet happy with it. [1] is the related
issue.
