Shalin Shekhar Mangar resolved SOLR-1519.

    Resolution: Invalid

Please ask such questions on the solr-user mailing list before creating an issue.

The answer to your question is that distributed search fetches start+rows documents (just unique keys + scores) from each shard in order to correctly merge the results. This is why it gets slower as you keep on increasing the start value.

> There are 5 shards in my system, and I set rows to 20 and set start to 20 * pageIndex across each query.
> It means I would get only 20 results easy query, and it did.
> buy my question is :why it takes more and more time when start is incrementally increased ?

thank you for your answer,
but I don't understand that. Why distributed search fetches start+rows documents from eash shard?
do you mean that distributed search can't work fine with solr1.3 ,or how can i do for greater efficiency?
