No one remembers? Both the bug report and the jira issue are still
open. Any thoughts on how these will be resolved?

Hey,
It seems not. To get it resolved someone will have to volunteer to
update the code and then integrate it. At that point we will have to
review it and ensure it does not effect performance to much. Now is a
good time to have a go at this as we are going to release 3.0 in the
near future. Any volunteers?
