[jira] [Commented] (HADOOP-3257) Path should handle all characters
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-3257?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13178831#comment-13178831 ]
Daryn Sharp commented on HADOOP-3257:
-------------------------------------
Barring any lower-level checks, the FsShell copy failure with a colon (and probably other chars) should already be fixed on trunk. FsShell tries to use a more robust parsing of the path, which should probably be moved into the Path class.
> Path should handle all characters

> Key: HADOOP-3257

> Affects Versions: 0.17.0

> Currently Path is limited by URI semantics in the sense that one cannot create files whose names include characters such as ":" etc.
> HADOOP-2066 & HADOOP-3256 are manifestations of this problem. It would be nice if Path handled all characters correctly...
