In your situation i'd be more inclined to do the following…

public final class UnresolvingDefinitionsFactory implements DefinitionsFactory {

    protected DefinitionDAO<?> definitionDao;

    public void setDefinitionDAO(DefinitionDAO<?> definitionDao) {
        this.definitionDao = definitionDao;
    }

    public Definition getDefinition(String name, Request tilesContext) {
        return definitionDao.getDefinition(name, null);
    }
}

You could also look into implementing the customisation-free DefinitionDao, ie implement the class: 
  {{BaseDefinitionDAO implements DefinitionDAO<Void>}}
