New subversion hosting service

Hello people,

you probably have noticed that there are many sites offering free CVS
repositories, but only one(two when counting berlios.de) for subversion.

Due to this lack of subversion services, I decided to start svnhosting.org, a
site which offers repositories+websvn to developers for free.

It would be nice if one of the project admins could add the site to the link
list(http://subversion.tigris.org/propaganda.html).

Best Regards,
Michael Goettsche.

Indeed right, but I have some reasons for doing it this way.

a) wush.net offers repositories for professional usage and they take money for
that service, I don't want to attack their business.

b) My intention was not to build up a commercial service, it was meant for
personal usage. Of course, there is berlios.de, but it offers much more, many
things that many people don't need. Additionally, the sign up is somewhat
complicated and annoying.

c) If people want to use it as hidden repository, it's still possible. The FAQ
says:

"If you don't want to have your repository open for everyone for reading(not
for writing of course), you need a good reason(We are open for good
argumentation, just send us an email) or you should consider donating a
little money."

Best Regards,
Michael Goettsche.

The propaganda page has been updated. svnhosting.org looks like a nice
site, Michael.

J Wynia: if you want paid service, look at www.wush.net, which is also
on the propaganda page.

I'm not criticizing your efforts, but am wondering why the restriction to
free. I know that I actually wouldn't use a free SVN service, but would
pay for one (if I didn't have my own servers). Why? Because the whole
point of SVN is to maintain a history for the files and paid services are
just more likely to still be around next year. Not that the free services
aren't valuable. They are. If you're doing an open source project, sites
like Sourceforge are a godsend. However, if the data you want to keep in
an SVN repository is worth a year's salary or more, you probably are
looking for a paid service.

There are things I seek out for free and those I will always pay for and
the security of my data is one of them that I will and do pay for.
