FS Backend Storage
Any estimate on what the disk usage might be vs the BerkeleyDB back-end?

experiment with the new "plain filesystem" repository back-end. No
BerkeleyDB binary-compatibility issues at all.

It compares quite favorably. In my case:
556318 gd-bdb
