   Today, even though all commit metadata is written to the timeline in avro, `HoodieCommitMetadata` and its subclass `HoodieReplaceCommitMetadata` still need to be converted to json because of its legacy usage in code all over the place. Even though the cost of json-avro conversion is minimal (2.7ms for 1mb commit metadata), we would like to eliminate its usage altogether.

   This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage (HUDI-6816).
   
   **Findings: still open.**
   
   A note to prevent a mis-triage: searching the commit log for `HUDI-6816` returns commit `73e710de1332`, `feat(table-services): Emit archival metrics for monitoring and debugging` (#18133). That is a **false positive**. The commit touches `ArchivalMetrics.java`, `HoodieTimelineArchiver`, `TimelineArchiverV1`/`V2` and `HoodieMetrics`, and only carries `JIRA Issues: HUDI-6816` inside an internal-tooling footer (alongside a `Differential Revision: https://code.uberinternal.com/D17816129` line and `Tags: #hudi_0.14`).
   
   It has nothing to do with removing JSON `HoodieCommitMetadata`, so this ticket remains unstarted.
