[PR] Fix crashes, hangs and data loss on unexpected input [mynewt-newt]
sjanc opened a new pull request, #646:
URL: https://github.com/apache/mynewt-newt/pull/646
newt crashed or hung on easy-to-make mistakes in configuration files, repository definitions and command-line arguments. In some cases it damaged user data without any error. A user who hits one of these gets a Go stack trace or a newt that never finishes, instead of a message pointing at the problem, and the worst cases change the project in ways that are hard to notice and undo:
- A wrong git origin.
- Files overwritten.
- A checkout switched to another repository's commit.
Valid but less common setups were affected too:
- Projects in paths that contain spaces.
- Repositories and projects with the same name (mcuboot).
- Parallel builds that lost entries in compile_commands.json.
Each fix comes with a regression test that reproduces the original crash, hang or data loss, so these cases stay covered.
