svn switch "overlay"

Say I have two branches, one representing the entire directory
structure and files for a tree, the other consisting of a small,
sparse subset scattered throughout.  Is it possible to checkout the
first, then "overlay" the second on top, such that any files in the
second are switch'd to the second (but without blowing away all of
those from branch1)?
