getPeer() on BaseObject

I've noticed recently that the getPeer() method is not defined on the
abstract BaseObject class in Torque. Currently, I'm using reflection to
invoke this in a method from a utility class that accepts a BaseObject
parameter.

Is there a better way to access this information of which I'm not aware, or
is it possible it will be added in a future release?
