maven-release-plugin, svn and tagging

hello,

I am facing an issue when wanting to release an artifact with the
maven-release-plugin. After some searching I figured the problem had
already been reported on JIRA, and I added one comment with more
detailed stacktraces about it
(http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MRELEASE-492).

Out of curiosity, I was wondering if other people here might have
encountered the same issue, and if there is perhaps a workaround for
this?

I guess you could use this solution to be independent from the svn
subcommand: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MRELEASE-344
We already use this in the buildnumber-maven-plugin without problem. I guess
we're going to try it for the maven-release-plugin too.
