### _#troubleshooting_

**@yash.agarwal:** How do i set delete data older than 2 years which can be
triggered from outside.
**@mayanks:** If you know the segment names (naming scheme should have
appended date time), you can call the delete api. You can get the segment
names using the api to list all segments of a table
**@mayanks:** Or are you asking how to explicitly trigger segment retention
(instead of waiting for the background thread)?

**@g.kishore:** No, this is something we plan to add in 2021
**@pabraham.usa:** Thank you @g.kishore, Sorry to ask whats the benefit of
having a deep storage functionality?
 **@g.kishore:** its backup/durability
**@g.kishore:** the entire cluster can be tore/down and got up again without
losing data
**@pabraham.usa:** Thats a good feature, So I assume a copy of the data also
goes to deep storage so if we lose the data from local disk we can resurrect
from deep storage.
 **@g.kishore:** yes
