Tested with both Windows 7 Pro and Windows 10 and cannot confirm on either. The
following are the System configurations.

I was not able to reproduce what you described.
Tested with AOO 4.1.4 and Win7 x64 Pro
1) Open text+jpg.docx
2) Select picture (green handles)
3) Ctrl+C
4) Open a new document
5) Ctrl+V
Picture is inserted with no crash

Copying a selection of text and an image from word into open office does not
paste in the image but only the text and a strange link image. If, however, you
just paste in the image then the image is pasted just fine. If you then try to
copy that image from writer the application crashes and goes directly to
recovery mode.
Steps to reproduce.
1. Using the attached word document, select the text and image.
2. paste into a writer document.
3. You will notice the image is not display as an image but as an image with a
file link as the graphic instead of the graphic iteself. See attached.
4. If you do steps 1-3 with just the image itself it pastes just fine so it
seems to be related to a mixture of text and an image.
5. If you then copy with CTRL-C the newly pasted image in writer then the
writer application will crash and go to recover document mode.
I see here 2 problems. My current assumption is that they are related to the
same underlying error and that the issue is the inital pasting of the element
which eventually leads to a larger problem of a crash.
Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
16GB RAM, Intel Core i7-4810MQ CPU 2.80 GHz

Here, we don't use MS-Word.
AOO can open .doc so needless to use another software.

Sorry. I just realized that OO can open a word document. Did both of you try to
open the word document in Word and copy from word to OO or area you opening the
above document in OO and copying it into a new doc?
Perhaps step 1 should be clearer. For word doc, I meant open in word.
1. Using the attached word document, open in MS Word, and select the text and
image.
