[jira] [Commented] (CALCITE-7678) Runtime equality for ROW values produces incorrect results

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CALCITE-7678?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=18099586#comment-18099586 ]

Julian Hyde commented on CALCITE-7678:
--------------------------------------

Several of these operations ({{{}GROUP{}}}, {{{}DISTINCT{}}}, {{{}UNION{}}}) use {{IS NOT DISTINCT FROM}} rather than {{{}={}}}, so be sure to check that too.

SQL's comparison semantics for {{ROW}} values are weird (especially where foreign keys are concerned, and when some or all of the values of the {{ROW}} are {{{}NULL{}}}) so be sure to check.

> GROUP BY, DISTINCT, JOIN, UNION, etc by ROW-typed values produces incorrect results, because ROWs are compiled to Object[] and are compared by reference instead of being compared by value.
