Hi Folks,
SA 2.61 in site wide config:
I just turned on "whitelist_from" and within 10 minutes, the bayes
database went down. Spamd process taking up way to much CPU, not going
away, and new ones spawning, bayes.lock file never going away, and the
same ole log file entries:
"Cannot open bayes databases //.spamassassin/bayes_* R/W: lock failed:
File exists"
Can anyone else confirm this issue with whitelist-from?
Does anyone have any idea why bayes may be corrupting like this?
Time to retrieve database from tape - Big sigh.....
Dave.....

I've experienced similar "R/W: lock failed" problems several times now with
2.63, although I didn't notice any correlation with the whitelist_from
directive. I didn't lose my bayes db's to corruption either. I turned off
auto-learning for a few days and today I've turned it back on to begin
testing to see if the bayes_learn_to_journal directive has any effect.
We're running spamd on x86 linux (2.4.x) machines all with the newest
production perl and perl modules and using ext2, ext3 as well as reiserfs3.
