The DEA currently requires an R5 framework and a newer Sling API than the old code which was part of the Event bundle. Therefore simply replacing the event bundle with a new version + DEA does not work as it would require to update the framework, Sling API and implementations etc.
There is no need for the increase of the dependencies.
