setting up LVG
Hi List,
I am a bit confused about how to set up the LVG for cTAKES.
I want to use the 2012 version. I have the data file and the script file.
I am confused about how to run the script to create the HsQL DB for the
2012 data.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Leonard

Hi Leonard,
We have not tried 2012 yet. But yes, in 2.5, you can certainly drop the data files into resources\lvgresources\data\hsqlbd.
Just be aware of a potential version conflict with the 2012 lvg hsqldb files- If you run into those issues, feel free to open a Jira and we'll take a look at it for the 3.x releases.
Thanks,
Pei

Thanks Pie,
I am using cTAKES 2.5.
I am thinking that I could just replace the HSQLDB in the cTAKES resources\lvgresources\data\hsqlbd directory and leave everything else in cTAKES unchanged...Do you think this will work or do I have to add the rest of LVG 2012 for things to work properly?
Best,
Leonard

Normally,
1. One would replace the directory <cTAKES_HOME>ctakes-lvg/src/main/resources/lvgresources/lvg/data/HSqlDb with data/HSqlDb from your extracted download from the NIH Lexical Tools website (http://lexsrv2.nlm.nih.gov/LexSysGroup/Projects/lvg/current/web/index.html). Replacing the entire directory is appropriate.
2. In the future, you can upgrade to later versions of LVG by editing the <cTAKES_HOME>ctakes-lvg/src/main/resources/lvgresources/lvg/data/config/lvg.properties file, replacing "lvg2008" with the name of the new release.
3. However, If I recall correctly LVG actually includes hsqldb class files inside their jar. So there may be potential version conflicts of hsqldb with the current dictionary lookup modules. We have not upgraded to lvg2012 yet, but feel free to open a Jira item if you encounter any issues.
Thanks,
Pei
