Duty Calls & Focus and Attention

This email is all meta comments. To start off with, it would be helpful
if there were a public mailing list under the @diversity.apache.org
umbrella to discuss non-development topics. If for no other reason than
to say that posts like this one don't belong on dev@diversity which is
intended to focus on things like Survey Design, Contributor Experience
Research, Outreachy coordination, diversity.apache.org website
development and the like.

Second, two links:

https://s.apache.org/DutyCalls
https://s.apache.org/FocusAndAttention

For the second link, the whole thing as well as the video are worth
reading and watching, but scrolling to the bottom and clicking through
the slides will give a good summary.

Alternately, use https://selfserve.apache.org/mail.html and request
discuss@diversity.apache.org and leave this mailing list as a
historical artifact. I don't know about others, but I would be OK
with that. I'm only asserting that there needs to be an identified
place to discuss public, non-development diversity and inclusion
topics without interfering with the important work being done on
dev@diversity.

moving a mailing list from the apex domain to a sub-domain is not a
simple task, I'd expect this to take a while, especially considering
summer vacations etc. It might also have been missed in the request, I'd
suggest either pinging users@infra or raising a separate ticket about
this one item only.

"that's what discuss@ is for, no?" can be expanded to "that's what the
discuss@diversity.apache.org mailing list is for, no?"

hmm, I am confused then

in my infra request, I asked that diversity@apache.org be migrated to
discuss@diversity.apache.org, and that diversity@apache.org be set up as an
alias for that list. I was under the impression that that had been completed

Your use of verb tense confuses me. There is no such list or alias at
the moment:

[apmail@hermes ~]$ cat .qmail-diversity-discuss
cat: .qmail-diversity-discuss: No such file or directory

[apmail@hermes ~]$ ls lists/diversity.apache.org/
dev private

that's what discuss@ is for, no?
