Is there a status update on this bug? This bug makes a lot of the custom reporting options useless because the results cannot be deployed to a remote site for viewing.

Hi jorg,
(For the next time, please use dev@maven.apache.org instead of jira for these sorts of question)
To build the plugins project [1], you need Maven 2.0.5 or more. You could build Maven from sources [2] or download a CI distribution [3] with 2.1-SNAPSHOT.
Due to some cyclic references in the plugins dependencies, the actual plugins pom [4] will fail. You could comment out some modules or build individually each plugin wanted.
FYI MNG-2410 will block a release of site plugin until Maven 2.1 (see svn r430446).
For your last question, the bug was for external reports (like jxr, javadoc) in the stage goal.
HTH.
Vincent

Since the snapshot repro seems to be quire old, I checked out the trunk and tried to build the latest version.
For the naive way I got lost when I was told that I need maven 2.0.5 to continue.
Then I started to hack locally but got lost from maven-site-plugin -> maven-reporting-api -> doxia-sink-api -> ...
Seems that you updated the complete dependency tree ;)
Is there are hotfix possible without upgrading to maven-reporting-api 2.0 to 2.1(-SNAPSHOT) and all caused implications.
On the other hand: Will the new stuff be released within the next couple of weeks (or this year at all)?
Or will a SNAPSHOT be available at maven-snapshot-repository in the next future?
I still have NOT understood what the actual problem was, but it seems to be a tiny bug since it works properly with mvn site...

In my point of view, it doesnt seem very hard: we need to setReportOutputDirectory in SiteRunMojo, and to update external plugins to handle that.

Is there a solution for this problem? I struggle with it for a long while now.
Does the problem also occur with site:deploy? I have not tried this so it could be a workaround - but maybe site:deploy is using site:stage and only deploys the result...

------------------------------------
this happens with all reports I've used so far: javadoc, jxr, cobertura etc.. at first glance the output directory URL property is properly set on the reactor projects in the site mojo, the problem could be related to the relative path resolution; I'll post the solution/patch if I find it
